| Katie Hilgendorf is an Omaha native, but a transplant from St. Louis. There, she took life by the reins and pursued her dream to style hair in “the big city.” Katie joined a salon committed to education where she grew her clientele. Her commitment to the beauty industry, and her dedication to her clients, eventually lead her to salon ownership. After accomplishing these life goals, Katie focused on another challenge; inspiring and educating young students. As an educator at Paul Mitchell the School in St. Louis, Katie eventually become a Learning Leader as well as a Color Specialist- two coveted titles in the PM education system. With sincere focus and passion for color, Katie thrives on creating gorgeous hair. Her inspiration comes from everywhere; spilled copper pennies, vibrant yellow from pineapples, rich reds from fall leaves, smooth and dreamy buttery creams. Developing unique color formulas tailored to each guest ensures that all of her guests leave feeling beautiful and confident in their own way. Throughout her career, both as stylist and educator, Katie has been dedicated to continued technical instruction to improve her own skill. She has been honored to receive advanced color education with Linda Yodice, Artistic Director for Paul Mitchell Color and Audra Turner; Advanced Academy Color Education Leader (to name a few). Additionally, Katie has refined her cutting prowess through the instruction of Mike Helm, Advanced Academy Cutting Education Leader. With his help, Katie feels as comfortable with a pair of cutting shears as she does with a color brush and bowl. One surprising route of continued education Katie has made a priority is specializing in cutting curly hair. Any woman with natural curl knows how hard it is to find a stylist who understands the unique approach to cutting (and styling) curly hair. Katie is a certified stylist with advanced curl cutting education from Loraine Massey, owner of DevaCurl-NYC. Putting this unique education to work, she is experienced in the precise technical approach to cutting curls and understands styling hair to help curly hair behave. To help her create amazing curls, Katie loves using the Curl Conscious line from Bumble and bumble. For smooth hair, her must-haves are the Kerastase Thermique products to protect hair from heat damage. Katie also loves the transformative powers of deep conditioning Fusio-Dose treatments. Improving the integrity of hair is very important to Katie and these products help her produce some amazing miracles. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her extremely large family, having dinner and drinks with friends, and enjoying the little things in life. |
